Porsche 718 Cayman Unveiled in Beijing With Lower Price Than Boxster

Following the debut of the 718 Boxster, Porsche has unveiled the 718 Cayman, now entering its third generation. The mid-engine sports coupe receives a more aggressive exterior design, new chassis tuning, redesigned interior, and lower starting price than the roadster.

Like the 718 Boxster, the Porsche 718 Cayman S will be powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four that produces 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque, while the base Cayman will be powered by the 2.0-liter flat-four, offering up 300 hp and 280 lb-ft. Both engines are equipped with an integrated wastegate for optimized boost pressure for all driving situations.

Expect the Porsche 718 Cayman to hit 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds when equipped with PDK and the optional Sport Chrono Package, with the Cayman S doing the same in 4.0 seconds. Top track speeds for the 718 Cayman and Cayman S are 170 and 177 mph, respectively.

Arrivederci, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles? Cheaper Gas Isn't Always A Good Thing

One of the least remarked upon of low-dough petroleum's surprise casualties actually might have been a forseeable one -- that is what it has done to FCA, maker of Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Ram, and Jeep vehicles. Sure, you can blame high recall expense and natural disaster, and FCA does, but in 2015, the best sales year in American history, the company just managed to turn a profit.

Incorporated in the U.K. and headquartered in the Netherlands, the carmaker with the glorious Italo-American heritage was born at a time when expensive gasoline and worldwide recession seriously curbed North America's appetite for thirsty pickups and SUVs.

Those were freestanding Chrysler's only reliable profit centers, and when sales went away, it drove the firm into bankruptcy while making Fiat's slender but worthy portfolio of small-car technologies suddenly appear relevant. What a difference a few years can make.

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Gets
More Power, Improved Efficiency

Following a mild update to other versions of the popular midsize sedan, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid hits showrooms this spring with a new look and more technology. Most importantly, the Accord Hybrid also receives powertrain revisions that improve both power and efficiency.

Underhood, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid has a revised 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine, redesigned electronics, and a more compact motor. Total system output is up from 196 hp to 212 hp, though Honda is frustratingly taciturn about how much of that power gain comes from the gas engine versus the electric motor. The car's lithium-ion battery pack is also physically smaller, so it takes up less trunk space than in the last Accord Hybrid. The car's revised bodywork is slightly more aerodynamic than before, helping efficiency.
