New Cars for 2010: The United States of America

Never mind loans, partners, reorganizations, dealer purges, or any of the other maneuverings that have consumed the U.S. auto industry for the past twelve months. Only great new cars and trucks can power Detroit out of the ditch. New for 2010 (or thereabouts), the ten cars gathered here are, in our estimation, the best hope to do just that.

The "new" GM has fresh products for each of its four surviving divisions (Hummer, Pontiac, Saab, and Saturn are now more or less out of the picture). Chevrolet, still basking in the attention of the long-awaited Camaro launch, gets a new Equinox this fall, and GMC offers its own version of that SUV, the Terrain. Buick, tasked with tackling Lexus, has the new Lacrosse sedan, and Cadillac receives the redesigned SRX and the CTS Sport Wagon. The challenge for the company will be convincing consumers to believe in these new products despite the poisoned reputation that comes with one of the largest bankruptcies in U.S. history.more

Ongoing Live Coverage of the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

The Frankfurt auto show is back and it looks like the first really healthy auto show of the 2009 season. Cars like the Mercedes-Benz SLS, Audi R8 Spyder, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, Ferrari 458 Italia, Jaguar XJ, Maserati GranCabrio, Rolls-Royce Ghost, and a slew of Porsche 911 models will be seen for the first time at this year's show. There's an emphasis on green cars, but there are still a lot of powerful cars on display here that will satisfy enthusiasts.

Automobile Magazine has its team of expert editors in Germany for the show's press days, which begin September 15th. Take a look at our extensive preview of the show and be sure to return for ongoing live coverage of the show all this week. All of the big reveals happen on September 15th, but we'll be at the show both days looking for executives to interview and digging for some news outside of the traditional press conferences.more
