Finally though, we have direct confirmation of how Ford will sell the GT. Beginning today, the company has opened up the application process to vet potential buyers of the new supercar. Yes, just like when buying a Ferrari, you'll be vetted, and you'll need to be wealthy.
Ford says the application process is to weed out those that won't be good "ambassadors" for the company or the supercar. For those submitting applications, only 500 of you will be chosen to receive a car, as GT production is limited to 500 units for the first two years.
Those who are accepted will be contacted by a new Ford Concierge Service specific to the Ford GT, and will be asked to come into a pre-approved dealership to "tailor" their car to their specific wants. Ford also revealed just how much you'll pay for a GT: The car will start in the "mid $400,000 range," meaning many shoppers could pay close to half a million after options. |
